Hi all, Thanks for the constructive and useful meeting today. Clearly we have a lot to talk about! Following up the discussion of 203H, a few additional details I gathered: * Soundproofing for the room was first requested >10 years ago. It’s been high on the priority list for Facilities for the past two years, but the work has still not been done, much to the enduring frustration of the students and users of the room. * The room has blackout curtains that are useful when displaying astronomical images. They are currently broken, though Mike Culver has replacements ready to install. * The astro group uses 203H for workshops and observing, and has a permanent daily reservation of the room from 5 pm to dawn to support remote observing at Mees. A replacement space would need a similar level of control. * The alcove in 203I is a storage and lab area for equipment testing. It also has blackout curtains, and is in the midst of being cleaned up. * The Astronomy Club stores a couple of telescopes in 203I, which gives them easy access to the quad. Moving them to B&L 166 (for example) has the disadvantage of requiring elevator access for the telescopes. Summary: 203H has known disadvantages for the Astro group, which they’ve had to work around for some time. A move to equivalent or better space could be done, and B&L 166 might be that space, with caveats that should be discussed in a future meeting.
