To make sure we do not leave anyone from our space mailings, I have created a list server for the space committee:
space@phlnx3.pas.rochester.edu
In this way, we also have a record of our communications.

I have completed my availability during that week. On the MWF, we
would need to use zoom since I am not on campus on those days.

Subject: The final frontier....
Dear Space Committee Colleagues,
I want to bring two items/needs proactively to the attention of the Space Committee.
I want to draw your attention to two pending space needs.
The first is for Ke Wang who will start in September as the first Eberly Senior Post-Doctoral Fellow. I believe that this is the first ever PAS endowed post-doc to join the Department. Note that he will not necessarily work for any specific faculty member
or group. I believe that he deserves a good office (single occupancy) in a good location in B&L. Where?
The second is that we will likely search this year for the first Joseph H. Eberly Endowed Professorship in Physics. I believe that this is also the first truly endowed professorship (including a significant research fund) that has been the basis of a hire
in PAS, perhaps ever. This could be at a tenured level. It is my understanding that Joe’s old office will be used for our new Simons hire and hence Joe’s old set-up with nearby student and post-doc offices will not be a possibility. Where are we planning
to place this hire that is appropriate for such a landmark hire? Where will students and post-docs be located?
Let’s start planning now for a successful future.
Can we possibly meet in August?
Take care,
Nick
